Fiore & Nye: A match made in, well, Nye

December 12, 2022 5:32 am

Storied county gets a new resident.

Nevada Republican National Committeewoman, erstwhile Las Vegas City councilwoman, gubernatorial campaign deserter, defeated state treasurer candidate, perpetual target of investigations, Trump-worshiping 2020 election denier, Marjorie Taylor Greene wannabe, and all around multipurpose vulgarian Michele Fiore has reportedly moved to Nye County and applied to fill a vacant job as a justice of the peace in Pahrump.

Egged on by Fiore’s fellow Republican carnival barker Jim Marchant, Nye County’s keen embrace of Trumpist conspiracies about George Soros controlling the county’s voting machines from an app on his phone or whatever has been the characteristic for which Nye County has been most well known over the past year or so.

But while burrowing a rathole deep into that heaping steaming pile of Trump droppings garnered county officials considerable national media attention, it is not what put Nye County on the map.

Years and even decades from now, the thing for which Nye County will be most famous – the thing that attracted far more national and international media attention than trying to murder its election process on Marchant’s orders – was that one time Nye County voters elected a pimp who was also the self-proclaimed “Trump of Pahrump” to the Nevada Legislature, even though he was dead at the time. Good times. Nye pride!

As county officials consider Fiore’s application to be a judge (excuse me, I appear to have momentarily stunned myself and lost my bearings by writing that phrase … deep breath … ok I’m back), they will no doubt be giving fair consideration to Fiore’s tragicomic series of madcap but sketchy antics, er, resume. And in case Fiore forgot to provide it, Nye County commissioners, who will pick the new JP, should be sure to take another look at this video of Fiore going full Fiore in that bitter, twisted, vulgar and maybe actionable post-loss harangue against Amy Tarkanian. It suggests their new neighbor has quite the, shall we say, unique judicial temperament.

Nye commissioners should also remember that while Fiore may be making their county her new home, her preferred habitat will always be a headline.
