Former Nevada Attorney General and failed Republican gubernatorial candidate Adam Laxalt’s political action committee has added former Interior Department Secretary Ryan Zinke to the “incredible lineup of All-Star conservative speakers” at the PACs “Basque Fry” September 14.
Zinke resigned from his cabinet post in December amid numerous ethics probes, including an investigation in connection with Interior blocking a tribal casino opening in Connecticut after Zinke was lobbied by the tribes’ competitor, MGM Resorts. MGM has since sued the federal government for allowing the tribes to move forward with the project.
This is the fifth year Laxalt has hosted the political picnic which, according to the event’s promotional materials, aims to “take our state back from Nevada’s radical, reckless Democrats.”
Others scheduled to speak at the event include former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandoski, former Trump administration acting U.S. Attorney General Matthew Whitaker, Trump administration acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, and Katie Williams, who was stripped of her title as Ms. Nevada earlier this year.
The event is also coupled with a conference hosted by Laxalt’s PAC and the American Conservative Union, which will be held in Reno on Friday, Sept. 13.
