Governor-elect Steve Sisolak will rely on the assistance of three women to head his transition advisory team as he prepares to ascend to the state’s highest office.
In a release, Sisolak announced U.S Rep. Dina Titus (D-Nev.) will chair the team, which will be co-chaired by former Assembly Speaker Barbara Buckley and Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve.
“Dina, Barbara, and Hillary are incredible public servants who have always put Nevada’s families first. I am proud to count these leaders as friends and to have them at the head of the table leading this committee,” Sisolak said in the news release.
Titus represents Nevada’s 1st Congressional District. She represented Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District from 2009 to 2011. Titus is also a former Nevada state senator.
Buckley is the first woman to serve as Speaker of the Nevada Assembly. She is currently the executive director of the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada and executive director of Clark County Legal Services.
Schieve was elected mayor of Reno in 2014 after serving two years on the City Council.
Earlier this month, Sisolak announced Michele White will serve as executive director of his transition team. White enjoys leadership experience in the Legislature as a former leader of the Senate Democratic Caucus. She most recently served as State Director of For Our Future, a national political advocacy group with a presence in Nevada.
